Why healthcare should be free worldwide

How is it possible that we live in a world where in order to survive, or take care of ourselves, we need to pay thousands of dollars to receive professional healthcare? How is it that Big Pharma has made billions of dollars off of dying, ill people who came for help rather than debt? What would a world with free healthcare resources look like?

Universal access to free healthcare would ensure that everyone has equal access to medical care and preventative care. There would be a colossal emphasis on preventative care, including regular check-up, necessary vaccinations, and health education. The overall goal would be to address health issues before they become serious and fatal.

The obvious aspect would be reduced financial burdens. Citizens wouldn't have to lay in fear of walking into a professional medical site and receiving medical attention and fearing the large money pit they have now fallen into. This would significantly alleviate financial stress relating to health care needed to survive.

Including health equity efforts would be made to address health disparities, ensuring that marginalized and underserved populations receive the same quality of care as more privileged groups, meaning a whole new world of mental health resources would open up, decreasing the homeless populations, and death rates from mentally ill going untreated and unrecognized.

Big pharma should be focused on the outcomes and prioritizing patient outcomes and quality of care over profit. Medical decisions should be driven by what is best for the patients, not what’s most profitable. With free healthcare, there would be no room for profit and Big Pharma would have no choice but to prioritize the patients and the level of care.

Although free healthcare would be something that could change the world of healthcare and change lives, it also clearly has many challenges such as ensuring the sustainability of the system and managing the supply and demand of products and services.
