i had a dream the other night,

my not-hands stretched out in front of me,

searching the way they used to when I was

seven years old

reaching towards the pretty purple and

blues resting on a rich lady shelf

my grubby little hands, dulling the colors,

covering them in little kid fingerprints

as I shove things that aren’t mine into my

pockets, resting them on my own shelves

i think I’m still that seven year old

taking things that don’t belong to me and

covering them in finger prints to decorate

myself
